Last night Shiya and I sang the following words at least 100 times:
I love you
I love me
I love Ayrie
And
I love Be
Shiya needed extra love this morning so we sang the song another 20 times except this time it was:
I love Shiya
I love Shiya
I love Shiya
And
I love Shiya
I held him tight and rocked him in the back yard while I sang these words to him.
On the way to school we listened to Carmina Burana. Â If you haven’t listened to it before it goes from loud to soft, from sad to happy, from dark to light…. Shiya loved the transitions and seemed so thoughtful when we listened to it. Â We even sat in the parking lot at school until we finished on of the movements. Â The effect was amazing therapeutic and he was able to say goodbye to me much more easily at school today. Â Playing that piece was another flash of inspiration…
Are you guiding me ayrie? Â If so you are doing a great job. Â Thank you.
hi Nora,
this is really good from a sensory point of view just in general. I just wrote marie’s preschool teacher on marie’s sensory needs and mentioning things we get from auditory input. 🙂 (the OT read my letter after I wrote it and added on).
and one thing we mentioned to her preschool teacher is the connection between the auditory nerve and vestibular system ( vestibular is balance/ motion)and rocking and swinging stimulate the auditory system and vestibular a tthe same time because the vestibular and auditory systems share the same cranial nerve, hence stimulate one system and you stimulate the other.
so … it jsut popped into my head since I just talked with the OT about this. You maybe “rocking’ shiya and calming him with music :).
so maybe in so many ways humans know what to do to help themselves?
the music sounds lovely, I want to check it out now.
